Long time reader, sporadic poster. I had a star by my name at some point in time, hence the user name.

At least one of you knows who I am and have met me in person. I'm finishing up my (hopefully) penultimate quarter of mechanical engineering at a school a stone's throw from Sacramento.

I didn't have much of a motorsports background but I did have a lot of mechanical advantage. Most of the people in my father's family ran some kind of service station or garage so they had their eclectic selection of mostly American muscle: GNX, Camaros, GTOs, and all that really good stuff that they don't make anymore because of CAFE and NCAP. So it was no surprise that I grew up reading Car and Drivers in the '90s and Road and Track in the '00s - I still love me the hell out of some John Phillips and Peter Egan.

Ironically, due to a mixture of burning out in high school and general laziness, I didn't actually get my license until I was 20 and really start driving around my 21st. Thanks to favorable ZipCar rates I was able to beat the hell out of some new Focii and Mazda3s and even moved my apartment in a CR-V, but that's neither here nor there.

Thanks to the BSME program I had a pretty good reason to join the Formula SAE (did absolutely nothing other than learn SolidWorks) team later evolved into Baja SAE (where I still did fuck all :D ). I did get to help fabricate a few bits, take care of a few other tasks, and oh yes, I got to do a few hard laps around a motocross circuit with it. I don't think my spine has still quite recovered from that yet...

So now I currently have a '95 Integra GS-R sedan that's all original save for the wheels, dipstick, and the exhaust tip that I crinkled. I didn't drive it all that hard until just recently when I realized that the car sort of enjoyed going past the number 6 on the left dial. It's also a really fun party gag when I suddenly downshift and the car takes off like a rocket.

UCD? Good school. Was the school I found most similar to the school I'm going to now (Cal Poly SLO).
